Self-justification means that one cannot accept any fact that is in conflict with what one wants to believe.
One doesn’t like to be proven wrong because of one’s own self-image.
One would rather eliminate the fact than to change oneself.
All one cares about is to remain in one’s own present state.
One finds it hard to eliminate long time beliefs, because it shakes one’s own sense of reality and it may be frightening.
It is difficult to change oneself unless there is a catalyst.
Without a catalyst, one just indulges in whatever one sees fit.
It is like someone who wants to learn yoga without the yearning for truly understanding it and living it.
That is why to feel the dissonance with the way things are and yearning to be free is a great catalyst for liberating change.
